April Simington is a native of Winston-Salem, NC. Somewhat of a military brat, her father is a retired Coast Guard Master Chief and her mother is responsible for her love of child care and entrepreneurship. After high school, April attended Virginia State University where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in English and Mass Communications. She has 5 years of classroom teaching experience before she became a mom to 6 boys (including a set of triplets!).

 

The vision for Positive Vibes Empowerment Care was born from chaotic mornings in her own home and her children begging to attend the on-site before and after care at their school. As a mother, she toiled with the idea of what she would want her children to experience if they ever needed to attend before and after care. It is then that she discovered mindfulness practices and how incredibly beneficial they are. With her favorite daily mantra of "faith over fear," April moved forward with getting Positive Vibes Empowerment Care established! The program was welcomed into select schools in the Wake County and Forsyth County school district in North Carolina for the Fall of 2017!

 

As April continues to tirelessly pursue her dream of implementing quality before and after care programs into schools, she encourages anyone reading this to never be afraid to step out on faith. It is so important to follow your dreams!
